About Us
Katie Petronelli
Katie was born and raised in Connecticut where she had a successful junior career showing on the A circuit. After moving to Virginia for college, she then worked as a veterinary technician and veterinary office manager and began teaching on the side. Her passion was in teaching and caring for the horses, and thus began Shades of Bay, in 2008.
Since then, Katie has helped students earn ribbons at Devon, Pony Finals, Harrisburg, WIHS, Zone Finals, as well as year-end accolades with USEF, VHSA and MHSA. She especially enjoys bringing along young ponies and horses.
Facility
Shades of Bay is fortunate to make its home at the wonderful Tartan Farm in Leesburg, Virginia and features both an indoor as well as a large outdoor arena. Stunning fields and picturesque views as well Conveniently located in Leesburg, VA. About 20 minutes from Ashburn and about 50 minutes from Arlington and points of D.C.
Boarding and Training
Shades of Bay offers full care horse boarding and lessons. We feed high quality orchard grass hay and Purina feeds. Private and semi private instruction, from short stirrup through junior hunters, as well as jumpers. We show on the A circuit up and down the east coast as well as Ohio and Kentucky and some of the nicer local venues. Individualized care for each rider and their equine partner is a priority in our barn.
